Employment Tribunal fees

Fees for Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal claims are to be introduced from 29 July 2013 (subject to Parliamentary approval).

Fees must be paid to lodge a claim and before a hearing. There are two levels of fees:

  • Type A – straightforward claims such as unlawful deduction from wages, notice pay and redundancy pay will attract an issue fee of £160 and a hearing fee of £230; and
  • Type B – most other claims such as unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing detriment and equal pay claims will attract an issue fee of £250 and a hearing fee of £950.
  • The sanction for non-payment of issue and hearing fees are that the claim will not be allowed to commence or continue in the Tribunal.
